Why would attorneys fees vary so much for bankruptcy?

Why do attorney fees vary so much for filing bankruptcy? The attorney I 1st spoke to was going to charge me 2000.00 and I've seen advertisments on TV for as little as 200.00.

It really has to do with the type of bankruptcy which is filed and how complicated the bankruptcy might be. For example, the cheapest bankruptcy would be a chapter 7 bankruptcy where the debtor has no assets. If you file a chapter 13 bankruptcy and you will be creating a 3 to 5 year bankruptcy plan there is more work for the lawyer to do and you will pay for that extra effort. Where you live could also be a factor.
